When they learned Max had lawyered up, Beeson and Trahon wasted no time in officially dropping him as an informant. Granick began phoning the FBI and the prosecutor’s office to find out what the government had planned for her new client. Three months later she finally got an answer from the government’s top cybercrime prosecutor in Silicon Valley. The United States was no longer interested in Max’s cooperation.
